This is the Bobcat Swap & Shop, created by the Environmental Humanities course Environmental Communications. We are a course about training young scholars to understand environmental concepts and be capable of translating environmental research in the physical and social sciences.
The Bobcat Swap & Shop is all about giving used clothes a second life. If you have any clothes that find themselves unsed or no longer fit, the Bobcat Swap & Shop is a perfect place to bring them to. If you find yourself looking to pick up new threads, you can do it here without worrying about contributing to carbon emissions. We also practice upcycling, so no matter the condition of the clothes we can transform it something new and amazing.
Our class focuses on modern environmental issues, like climate change, and some of their root causes; the fashion industry contributes to 10% of global carbon emmissions, with "fast fashion" making the cheapest and quickest products. The Bobcat Swap & Shop wishes to bring the public attention to this, and one of the way to combat "fast fashion" is to reuse or upcycle clothes. The class worked together to source, clean, prepare, and upcycle certain pieces to host a swap meet style event.
